Magpies Netball team player Shae Brown has helped the Monash University Storm to their first win of the season in the Championship division.
Brown, who has played in nine games for the Magpies during 2017, begun the game against the Peninsula Waves in the shooting circle, pairing up with Melbourne Vixens’ training partner Kim Commane.
Despite the added experience, the Waves led at half-time, 29-27.
It was the move of Brown from the goal circle to the midcourt that would alter the momentum, with the team taking the lead in the third quarter.
The Storm finished strongly, claiming their first win of the 2017 season, 54-47.
Melbourne Vixens’ Goal Shooter Emma Ryde was also involved in the round, playing for the Boroondara Express.
Ryde shot 25 goals in their 10-goal win over the Ariels.
The Geelong Cougars also recorded a win in the Championship division against the City West Falcons, to remain the only undefeated team.
The next round begins on Friday with the Wilson Storage Southern Saints and Geelong Cougars on Friday night, and concludes with the DC North East Blaze taking on the Peninsula Waves at Margaret Court Arena prior to the Melbourne Vixens match on Sunday.
