Netball Victoria is pleased to share an update to the Netball Victoria Board following its Annual General Meeting held on Sunday 28 May and recent Board meetings.
Several changes have been confirmed to the composition of the Board, with both new and familiar faces taking on key roles to drive the future of netball in Victoria.
Incumbent Board President Carol Cathcart has been re-elected to her position, a role she has held since 2022. Carol has been a valuable member of the Board since 2020, serving as an elected director. Her re-election reinforces her commitment to the organisation and her continued leadership in the sport.
Kylie Spears has been re-appointed as a director after initially joining the Board in 2020. Kylie's re-appointment speaks to her dedication and continued commitment to driving positive change within our sport across the state.
Karen Cusack has also been re-appointed as an appointed director for another two years. An experienced board director, Karen brings her strong legal and governance skills and a passion for sport, and will continue to make a positive contribution to the Board.
Joining the Board as an elected director for the first time is Andrea Booth. An occupational therapist, Andrea brings extensive leadership experience through her work in the public health sector, and a wealth of knowledge as a former elite netballer, having played for both the Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne Kestrels. Her experience at the elite level also extends to umpiring in the Victorian Netball League and Suncorp Super Netball.
Netball Victoria also welcomes Britt Hawkins to the Board as an appointed director. Britt is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, chartered accountant, and approved auditor, and her expertise in governance, risk management, and compliance frameworks will be invaluable to the organisation. Britt’s passion for netball is evidenced by her involvement at grassroots level through both her daughters' participation and her role on her club's executive committee.
Catherine Whitehead also joins the Board as an appointed director. With a wealth of experience in human resources, Catherine currently serves as the Chief People Officer at Australian law firm Lander & Rogers. Her impressive track record in promoting pay equity and fostering women's leadership development has earned her numerous industry awards and forged strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders. Catherine's expertise, dedication and experience as a county netball player and athlete in the UK will make her a valuable addition to the Netball Victoria Board.
The final addition to the Board is appointed director Adrian Kinderis. An executive and entrepreneur, Adrian’s strengths range from finance, governance, and risk management to policy development and people management, with significant experience in executive positions. With a deep connection to netball fostered by his mother, and later reignited by his daughter, Adrian’s passion and experience make him a welcome addition to the Netball Victoria Board.
May’s Annual General Meeting also marked the conclusion of Gayle Lambert’s time on the Netball Victoria Board. Serving as an elected director since 2014, Gayle leaves behind a remarkable legacy of outstanding service and dedication to the sport.
Netball Victoria extends heartfelt thanks to Gayle for her invaluable contribution and recognises her tireless efforts in growing and promoting netball across the state over the years.
