Following Netball Victoria’s May Board Meeting, the Netball Victoria Board has named three Appointed Directors for a new one-year term.
Mary Bluett and Rob Muir were re-appointed for another term, whist Rachel Piastri was also appointed to the Netball Victoria Board for the first time.
Muir will continue to bring his legal skill set as well as independent viewpoint to the Board, whilst Bluett has both a long history of involvement in netball and government relations.
Whilst Piastri has a long involvement in netball – as a player, coach and administrator – her technology background has seen her work with a number of different sporting organisations, including Tennis Australia, Cricket Australia and Netball Victoria. Currently she works as a Senior Consultant at Sport Australia, and in a time where organisations across many industries are being required to pivot to use more online offerings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Piastri’s appointment comes at an opportune time.
“I’m delighted to announce that Mary and Rob will be joining us for another term, and we are thrilled to have Rachel joining us too,” said Netball Victoria President, Richelle McKenzie. “Rachel is someone who has been around netball for a long time, so we are thrilled to have her back working with us; albeit in a different capacity.”
“Her strengths in strategic focus, business alignment, and resourcing and implementation are exactly the kind of skills that will complement both the Board and our sport as a whole throughout this time.”
McKenzie also thanked outgoing Appointed Director, Marc Giglio, for his service to the Board and contribution to the entire Victorian netball community.
Piastri joins Carol Cathcart and Kylie Spears as inaugural Netball Victoria Board Members, with Cathcart and Spears being announced as new Elected Directors at Netball Victoria’s Annual General Meeting in April.
McKenzie was also re-elected as President for another term.
