Nominations are now open for the Netball Victoria Community Awards, with a new category, School of the Year, announced.
The School of the Year Award looks to acknowledge the valuable contribution of schools to netball in Victoria.
Netball Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Rosie King, says it is important to recognise schools that contribute to netball in Victoria.
“The school community is vitally important as it provides an environment for all students to experience netball, regardless of ability, socio-economics, gender or race,” said King.
“This is a great opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding efforts of teachers, principals and schools who promote participation in netball, that may otherwise go unnoticed in the broader netball community.”
Schools must demonstrate how they have contributed to netball – whether it be through a Netball Victoria endorsed program such as Sporting Schools, Schools Championships or NetSetGO, or through promotion of inclusive netball in the school community.
Finalists for the award will be invited to attend the Netball Victoria Community Awards, held in Melbourne on Saturday 21 October, with the winning school taking home $500.
The Netball Victoria Community Awards celebrate the achievements and hard work of individuals and groups within the Victorian netball community.
King said that the Community Awards is a great opportunity to get the netball community together.
“It is an opportunity for the netball community to come together to celebrate the efforts and achievements of those that have a passion for netball, and for Netball Victoria to acknowledge the volunteers and unsung heroes that make our game great.”
There are a range of awards open for nominations, from individual awards such as the RACV Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Contribution to Umpiring and RACV Outstanding Contribution to Coaching, to group awards such as NetSetGO Centre of the Year, Outstanding Association/League of the Year and Inclusive Netball Community of the Year.
