Return to play - latest update
Metropolitan Melbourne, we finally have the green light for community netball! At 11:59pm on Tuesday 27 October Metropolitan Melbourne will move to Step Three. This will include the return of outdoor junior netball competitions and programs and non-contact training for adults at outdoor venues.
The 25km limit will remain until 8 November which means some members will still be limited by the travel restrictions.
For regional Victoria, people 18 years and younger can continue to participate in netball competitions and programs. Adults continue with non-contact training at outdoor venues. Indoor venues may open for non-contact sport only, for people aged 18 years and under.
Check our updated resources for further information.

2020 Membership Status
There have been questions around the 2020 Netball Victoria memberships and registrations now that some members have received reimbursements. Please see below information which will be of help to you regarding questions you may receive;
- A member will remain registered for the remainder of year only if they have received a partial reimbursement.
- A member will be deregistered if they have received a full reimbursement. If they intend to play in 2020 they will be required to purchase a new membership at the discounted rate for 2020.
- A player who does not currently have a 2020 membership can purchase a new membership at the discounted rate, they do not purchase a full registration and then claim 50% reimbursement.
- A member who is eligible, has the option to transfer their 2020 membership over to 2021. This member will be deregistered for 2020 and will be required to purchase a 2020 membership at the reduced price if they plan on returning to netball in 2020.

Technology Project - Progress Update
As outlined in previous Club News, the process to select a MyNetball alternative is moving along well. The working group is continuing with the robust testing and review of both WSA and PlayHQ platforms.
We have almost closed off with WSA, they continue to update us with the progress of developments. The testing group this month have spent hours playing in the the PlayHq Sandpit, a test environment where we have been able to replicate registrations and competitions setup. We presented PlayHQ to the Community Group late last month and are currently compiling comments, questions and concerns. We have open and transparent discussions from both sides and allow everyone involved to provide feedback. Ultimately this feedback is essential in ensuring the platform we ultimately choose is one that will be more useful for our entire netball community.
We continue to work our way through the process and we’ll take the necessary time to ensure the right decision is made, ahead of the 2022 changeover. We will continue to update you of the progress, in the meantime, should you have any questions please contact a member of the Affiliate Services team.
Child Safety in Netball - Tip of the Month
Clubs have a responsibility to keeping our children safe by implementing the Child Safe Standards. In the Our Safety Counts report it was stated “Adults paying attention when a child or young person raised a concern or worry was the most influential characteristic in determining how safe children felt within an organisation”. To communicate to your communities that you are open to listening to concerns and that you welcome and encourage them to speak up is crucial to building a child safe culture. We have created some fabulous posters you can print and display around your communities that will help spread this message.

The Committee Room
Last month we launched the 'The Committee Room', a dedicated space created with grassroots netball committees in mind. We have received really positive feedback, so if you haven’t already, be sure to explore the site. Since the launch we have loaded another great resource called the "Grant Guide" that provides a step by step guide on how to be successful when applying for a grant.
