Melbourne Vixens star shooter, Mwai Kumwenda returned to the Victorian Netball League (VNL) for the Peninsula Waves, following the conclusion of Suncorp Super Netball.
Kumwenda played for the Waves from 2011-2013, before moving to New Zealand to play in the Trans-Tasman League.
Kumwenda scored 36 goals from 38 attempts for her three quarters, helping her team to a seven- goal victory, 59-52.
Her Melbourne Vixens teammate, Emma Ryde also played in Round 11 VNL.
Ryde, playing for the Boroondara Express, shot an impressive 45 goals against the Wilson Storage Southern Saints. The Express recorded a huge win, finishing 34-goal victors, 73-39.
However, the game of the round came in the 19/U division, with the match between the Waves and Ariels coming down to the wire.
Peninsula led 9-8 at the first break, however it would be the Ariels who held the lead at half-time by four goals.
The Waves didn’t give up though and staged a mighty comeback during the final quarter. However, they fell just short, with the Ariels claiming the win 44-43.
