Education sites provide a great opportunity for school communities to participate in various sports, and for the local sports community and surrounds to become a part of the school community. Joint use agreements support schools and sports, and develop infrastructure that improves local supply.
The Department of Education established the Building Quality Standards Handbook (BQSH) to create baseline compliancy for sporting facilities at schools.
It is important to recognise that these are minimum standards. As per the Netball Victoria Facilities Manual, there are specific infrastructure and access requirements for venues that service certain pathway level competitions as compared to training venues.
In all cases it is necessary to have access to suitable toilets and amenities, but there may also be other infrastructure requirements.
The BQSH should always be used in conjunction with the technical resources that support individual venue requirements.
Please contact our Facilities team if you have any questions regarding your project.
