Netball Victoria School Facilities Survey
Netball Victoria is currently working with all levels of government during the COVID pandemic to ensure our netball communities are safe and can achieve healthy participant outcomes as we transition from restricted lock-down physical exercise into more open structured community programs and activities.
Netball Victoria is committed to working with all levels of education in delivering safe and compliant netball participant outcomes for our communities. Our Facilities Team has been working with the Victorian School Board Authority (VSBA), Sport & Recreation Victoria (SRV) and Local Government Agency stakeholders in Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institution projects to delivery outstanding venues for their students and their local communities.
To support this work and to understand schools provision throughout Victoria, our Facilities Development Team is currently seeking basic census information on courts, their status and availability through the survey link below. (approximately 2 minutes) Please click here to complete the survey.
Your assistance in completing this survey is greatly appreciated. The information helps us to understand the provision available across Victoria and also understand where there may be current projects in need of support or advocacy. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.
As the demand for sporting venues increases, it becomes very important for councils to look at all available opportunities for sporting outcomes for their residents. This may include projects at public schools that can provide a joint usage opportunity for their communities outside of school hours.
The education department established the Building Quality Standards Handbook ( BQSH) to create base line compliancy for sporting facilities at schools. It is important to recognise that these are minimum standards.
As per the Netball Victoria Facilities Manual, there are certain infrastructure and access requirement necessary for venues that service certain pathway level competitions as compared to training venues.
In all cases, it is necessary to have access to suitable toilets and amenities, but there may also be other infrastructure requirements.
“The Building Quality Standards Handbook sets the minimum quality criteria for all Department of Education and Training (DET) capital projects, including new construction, refurbishment and maintenance works. Its purpose is to assist architects and designers to create high-quality designs for school facilities across Victoria.” (BQSH May 2019)
Please contact our Facilities Team if you have any questions regarding your project.
