ANC Game 3
Victorian Fury (58) defeated Tasmania (41)
Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium | Gunaikurnai Land
Q1: 13-10
The front end was humming early with Emily Andrew and Claudia Mawson combining superbly under the post, piling on five goals to one in the opening minutes. Jordan Cransberg dazzled in centre picking up a number of intercepts as the Fury kept their noses in front heading into quarter time.
Q2: 14-10
Fury tinkered with the line-up in the second term with Tori Honner entering the game at wing defence and Tayla Honey pulling on the wing attack bib. Intensity rose as the quarter went on with Tasmania hitting the scoreboard more regularly to reduce the margin to two goals. But a flurry of goals in the final two minutes saw Fury pull ahead to establish a seven-goal buffer.
Q3: 14 -7
The defensive combination of Maggie Caris, Gabby Coffey and Sharni Lambden created havoc with intercepts and deflections aplenty. Ruby Barkmeyer replaced Andrew under the post while Hannah Mundy’s pinpoint feeds allowed the Fury to ramp up in attack. More rotations followed with Olivia Lewis briefly entering the game at goal keeper.
Q4: 17-14
The final quarter continued at a high intensity as the Fury piled on the goals to increase the lead to 15 in the early stages of the quarter. Caris impressed with her ability to cleanly impact the play while Honner came back on and played a strong shut down role as the Fury secured a 17 goal win.
