The Australian Netball Championships took place in Traralgon last week, with the Victorian Fury coming away with the silver medal. Take a look at some of the key stats from Fury’s finals campaign:
Goalers:
Emma Ryde was in sensational form throughout the finals, missing just three goals across both matches. She starred with 51/52 attempts in the Fury’s semi final win over Queensland Sapphires, and her high output continued in the gold medal match posting 44/46 at 96%. Ruby Barkmeyer was also a dominant force in attack with a whopping 47 feeds, 30 centre pass receives and 12/13 goals at 92% throughout finals. Claudia Mawson provided another strong option both inside and outside the circle, amassing 19 goal assists and 13 goals.
Midcourt:
Tournament MVP Hannah Mundy impressed through the midcourt with 24 centre pass receives and a combined 47 circle feeds. Tayla Honey also performed strongly with 33 feeds, and Jordan Cransberg showcased her defensive skillset with two pick-ups and an intercept to accompany her 20 feeds and 17 centre pass receives. Co-captain Sharni Lambden did her job in wing defence with three deflections and one intercept across both finals.
Defence:
Gabby Coffey had an impressive finals campaign with a combined six gains, three intercepts and nine deflections – eight of them coming in the Grand Final against Southern Force. Melbourne Vixens defender and Fury co-captain Olivia Lewis also came to play in finals, racking up two pick-ups, eight gains, two intercepts and four rebounds. Maggie Caris stepped up with three gains and a pick-up while Tori Honner managed four deflections and a gain.
