Netball Victoria is delighted to announce the appointment of Rosie King as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), commencing late August 2016.
Highly regarded and experienced within the sporting industry, King comes to Netball Victoria from the Geelong Football Club where she was General Manager – People & Culture.
In this role, King achieved many notable accomplishments, including becoming the first female to hold a CEO role in the AFL when she was appointed Acting CEO. She also developed the Club’s Reconciliation Action Plan, and was integral in shaping the Club’s culture to one that is considered a benchmark in the AFL and local community.
Reflecting on her appointment, King said she is excited about leading the organisation into the sport’s new era.
“It’s such an exciting time for Netball Victoria with the new National Netball League in the pipeline and the heightened awareness around female participation in sport,” said King.
“Netball Victoria’s strength comes from the netball community – there is an enormous amount of pride in the depth of talent and commitment in the Associations and members within Victoria.
“Netball Victoria is a values-based organisation and one that has developed a great culture, and I’m thrilled and honoured to be joining the team.”
In addition to her professional accolades, King is also Director of the Australian Paralympic Committee, Committee member at Federation University, Advisory Board Ballarat, and a Committee member of the G21 Economic Pillar.
Prior to her tenure at Geelong, she was General Manager, Organisational Development at Sport New Zealand.
Announcing the appointment, Netball Victoria President Jenny Sanchez said she is excited by King’s skills and fresh insight.
“Rosie King’s experience and achievements as a highly strategic, collaborative leader are a great fit with our culture and future aspirations,” Sanchez said, adding: “King’s inclusive style will be welcomed by our community.”
