A convincing 63-37 win on Saturday after the Vixens v Thunderbirds game was backed up by a win in a tight contest on Sunday, 51-50.
Fury goaler Mikaela Vaughan commended the team for pulling together and take out both wins.
“We started off slower than we expected in game one, but were able to break away in the second quarter and really use that momentum,” said Vaughan.
“The second game was a bit tighter and we just couldn’t quite get that break. We did make some silly errors that we want to cut out for next round, but it was really good to have a challenging game like that where we pulled through at the end but there’s definitely a lot to work on this week.”
Sunday saw Vixens Ine-Mari Venter and Lara Dunkley join the team, adding depth to the Fury attacking end, but also combinations the team had to adapt to quickly.
“Having the Vixens players join, obviously we need to adapt to their style, and them to ours but having played with Lara last year in Fury, it is a familiarity which allows a smooth transition into the team.
“Today was the first time I’d actually played with Ine so it took a little bit of time to adjust, but we just had to keep the talk up so as long as we had that communication, we were able to ease into a rhythm.”
Fury are currently top of the Deakin University Australian Netball League ladder, and now turn their attention to Western Sting in Perth this weekend.
