Although coming off a weekend of two wins, the game on Monday that saw Fury trail for three quarters against the Tasmanian Magpies suggested there is still plenty to work on before their finals campaign.
Fury attacker, Kate Kelly-Oman says that the team’s impressive form over the past few weeks has put them in a good stead ahead of the finals.
“Heading into the final round before finals, as a group our main focus has been on building on each week’s performance,” Kelly-Oman said.
“We have instilled expectations on ourselves each game to perform our best and stick to our game plan, to ensure we execute it how we planned to, which I think has put us in a really strong position.”
It has been a long time in between clashes for the Fury and Fusion, last meeting early in the 2018 season in round two. The Fury claimed victories on both accounts, with the first game by a close six goals, while the second was a convincing 19 goals.
With the Fusion unable to make the finals this year, it is expected they will bring everything to the table for their last game of the season.
“As we’re moving towards the pointy end, this week our focus will be on our composure, skill execution and adjusting early to what is thrown at us throughout the game.
“I think the girls are more excited than nervous with finals coming up. It’ll be a great opportunity to showcase what we’ve been working so hard on, and hopefully we’ll be rewarded for that effort.
“We’ll be going into this week with high expectations and with confidence that we can produce a four-quarter effort and finish strong with another successful weekend.”
Fury take on the Queensland Fusion at 5.00pm at the Queensland State Netball Centre on Saturday and 3.30pm on Sunday.
